King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, received a telephone call from Al-Azhar Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb offering condolences for victims of the Mina stampede. Al-Tayeb said Saudi Arabia had devoted, and continued to devote, immense money, effort, and sacrifice to serving pilgrims and ensuring their security, safety, comfort, and care. He said history testified to its sincerity in serving the Two Holy Mosques. He condemned what he called disgraceful political point-scoring and attempts to distort Saudi Arabia’s record of service to pilgrims.
