Giza Governor Dr Khaled Zakaria al-Adly called for intensified work on a social-housing project comprising 111 buildings and 2,574 apartments on 55 feddans in Gerza village, al-Ayyat, at a cost of 292 million Egyptian pounds. He urged that the contractors be warned to complete construction according to the scheduled deadline at the end of December.
The governor said construction was around 80% complete and that utility connections would begin afterward, with allocations of up to 75 million pounds.
Al-Adly reviewed utility provision for the third phase of the National Housing Project being implemented by the governorate in 6th of October City. Its first phase is due for completion next month, with apartments handed to beneficiaries. He emphasized the governorate’s commitment to advancing housing projects, securing funding and continuously monitoring implementation.
Housing Undersecretary Ibrahim Farag said the remaining utility phases would be completed in the first half of 2016. The project comprises 5,892 apartments costing 393 million pounds, plus 65 million for utilities. The state provides a subsidy of 25,000 pounds per apartment. He said the development occupies 97 feddans and includes 215 residential buildings.
