Thursday Forecast: Low-Pressure System and Heavy Rain

Jordan is expected to be increasingly affected on Thursday by a low-pressure system and a cold, moist air mass.

Conditions will be cold and cloudy, with intermittent rain in northern and central areas, at times heavy and accompanied by thunder and hail. Scattered showers are also expected over the southern mountains, God willing.

Westerly to southwesterly winds will be moderate to brisk, raising dust in desert areas, especially in the east.

At night, a very cold air mass of polar origin will approach. A major cold front will cross late at night, bringing increasingly cold conditions, brisk winds, and cloud over northern and central Jordan.

Rain will begin in the north, spread rapidly to central areas, and later reach the southern mountains. It will become heavy late at night, accompanied by thunderstorms and hail.

Southwesterly winds will be brisk with occasional strong gusts.

Thursday’s warnings:

  • Possible flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, with water levels rising intermittently in tunnels in northern and central Jordan.
  • Reduced visibility on high mountain roads due to fog and low cloud.
