
Reliable Libyan sources said military leaders arrived in Tunisia on Wednesday to contact General Paolo Serra, the Italian security adviser to the UN mission in Libya, about securing the Government of National Accord led by Fayez Al-Sarraj.
According to the sources, participants included commanders from General Khalifa Haftar’s Operation Dignity associated with Al-Qaqa Brigade and Al-Ajmi Al-Atiri Battalion, leaders from Libya Dawn formations such as Al-Halbous and Al-Mahjoub brigades and Al-Mirdas Battalion, and figures from Sabratha.
UN Secretary-General’s envoy to Libya Martin Kobler held talks on Wednesday in Muscat with Oman’s minister responsible for foreign affairs, Yusuf bin Alawi.
Official sources said they discussed developments in Libya and Kobler’s efforts with the parties to the crisis.
Muscat sought to mediate among the opposing sides, ease conditions, and bring them into negotiations.
The parliament described in the source as the militia parliament had announced that its president, Nouri Abu Sahmain, recently met House of Representatives president Aguila Saleh in Oman.
