Mark Zuckerberg Plans an AI Assistant for His Home

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg said he intended to build an artificial-intelligence system to help manage his home and work.

In a Facebook post, Zuckerberg said his personal challenge for the new year was to design a “simple AI” similar to Jarvis in the Hollywood film Iron Man. He plans to share the stages of the system’s development throughout the year.

His announcement last month that he would donate the value of 99% of his Facebook shares made headlines. He had to defend the philanthropic project, launched to celebrate his daughter’s birth, after critics said it could give him room to avoid taxes on sales of his shares.

Controlling Everything

On Monday, Zuckerberg said he would start with existing technology and teach it to recognize his voice so that he could control everything at home, from music and lighting to temperature.
