The Minister of Justice and Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Yaqoub Al-Sane, dedicated the Order of Sciences, Arts, and Literature of the First Class, which was bestowed upon him by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad, and to His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak, who was the main supporter “in the modest efforts we made based on these directives and guidance, and I extend to him my sincere thanks and gratitude.”
In statements to reporters after returning to the country the evening before yesterday from Cairo, where he received the high-level order, Al-Sane expressed “his sincere thanks to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the Egyptian political leadership and government, which welcomed us warmly, and he also thanked the Egyptian Minister of Endowments, Dr. Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa, for his nomination and for conveying the bright image of Kuwait.”
He affirmed that this order is the result of their efforts in establishing a mechanism for religious discourse and a mechanism for moderation and centrism, and that the document they submitted to the Higher Committee for Promoting Moderation is the best evidence of this.
He added: “Therefore, I and the head of the Islamic Affairs Authority in the sisterly Emirates were honored for the changes we made in approach and for combating extremist and takfiri ideology at the level of the Arab nation and the Islamic world.”
He continued, “We are capable of achieving accomplishments. Everyone witnessed the grand opening of the Jaber Stadium a short time ago, which was admired by everyone. Therefore, let us be optimistic, and the coming days will be full of work, achievements, and development.”
Al-Sane added that His Highness the Prime Minister urges him to work and to confront administrative and financial corruption, and they have made great strides in this field, pointing out that the best evidence of this is the handling, in a record time, in a civilized and effective manner, of the consequences of the Constitutional Court’s ruling regarding the annulment of the law establishing the Anti-Corruption Authority, and perhaps the referral of the law for the establishment of the authority to the National Assembly is the greatest evidence of this, and addressing the consequences of the court’s ruling regarding the employees of the authority and other matters that you will see with your own eyes in the coming days.
Al-Sane indicated that a committee will be formed, headed by one of the advisors, so that the judicial side will be in charge, and all legal, judicial, and supervisory measures will be taken to ensure impartiality and integrity in dealing with all official documents within the premises of the dissolved authority.
In response to what is being said about deliberately delaying the letters directed to the Ministry of Justice regarding the lifting of immunity for MP Abdulhamid Dashti in state security cases, Al-Sane said, “We are being wronged in this accusation, as the letters themselves testify to this. Whoever claims this should look at the dates of the letters and correspondence, and no one can hide this. The referral letter comes with a date and serial number from the Public Prosecution. This is a clear injustice, and the government is used to unsubstantiated accusations. To be honest, these claims are incorrect, and we cannot accept them, as these matters relate to the public interest, and therefore the Minister of Justice cannot do such a thing.”
Al-Sane expressed his deepest condolences to the family of the deceased MP Nabil Al-Fadhel, saying that they were shocked by his death while he was performing his parliamentary duties. He also said to the people of Kuwait, “May God grant you patience,” and expressed his profound sadness and grief to his family, adding that this is the way of life.
