A seminar titled “Moderation and Balance in Kuwaiti Society” was held at the National Union of Kuwaiti Students’ headquarters in Egypt. Justice and Religious Endowments Minister Yaqoub Al-Sanea and Kuwaiti embassy cultural attaché Dr. Shaye Saud Al-Shaye attended.
Al-Sanea met students during a several-day visit to Egypt in which he chaired the first Arab conference of states party to the Arab Anti-Corruption Convention. He also discussed stronger cooperation, especially judicial and legal, with Egyptian Justice Minister Ahmed Al-Zind. He called for the joint judicial committee to meet every six months, alternating between the two countries, and for judicial cooperation agreements to be updated under relevant international conventions. He expressed Kuwait’s pride in Egyptian judges working alongside Kuwaitis in a setting committed to judicial independence and noninterference in judicial affairs and rulings.
He said Egypt’s community in Kuwait numbered around 700,000, working across professions and occupations and receiving good treatment in their second home. Mistreatment of Egyptian workers was a red line, as it was for every expatriate community. Al-Sanea and Al-Zind agreed to activate the joint judicial committee with alternating six-monthly meetings.
They also agreed to update judicial cooperation agreements in light of applicable UN conventions and extend them to corruption, terrorism, money laundering, and other offenses.
Al-Sanea met Egyptian Religious Endowments Minister Dr. Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa to discuss cooperation between their ministries.
