In Pictures: Assiut Governor Makes Surprise Visit to Government Services Complex.
Governor Yasser El-Desouky stressed the need for an effective cleanliness and security system at Assiut’s government services complex.
He made the unannounced visit with Major General Magdy El-Sayed, the governorate’s secretary general.
El-Desouky emphasized continuous maintenance, a review of every use of the building, and proper reuse of vacant sections.
He said several activities occupied large areas without serving an effective or positive role. They should be studied and the space repurposed to serve citizens and their interests.
He criticized the absence of safety and maintenance measures in a building less than thirty years old and called for a review of all safety requirements against future emergencies. It housed public services and directorates whose basic responsibility was meeting citizens’ needs.
The governor inspected offices for Assiut’s eastern and western districts and Assiut district headquarters, reviewing their requirements, public dealings, and document procedures. He listened to residents’ views on service performance and urged district and directorate heads to listen to citizens and simplify services without complex routine procedures.
He checked procedures at the Mashrouak program office and services for establishing projects and obtaining loan documents. Staff should help citizens complete all paperwork and access loans to begin their projects.
He also called for areas to be cleared and reused and for available refuse bins to be distributed on streets to improve cleanliness, especially in eastern Assiut.
At the health insurance clinic, he checked medicine availability and urged staff to use modern methods for managing medication data so supply needs could be identified easily.
He heard residents’ concerns about bakery inspections and promised that all governorate bakeries would be examined under a phased Supply Directorate plan. Several districts had already been covered, with work continuing until all inspections were complete. Bakeries would begin operating according to established needs, conditions, and standards.
