In reference to reports on some news websites that Greater Irbid Municipality personnel had seized a calf infected with tuberculosis, and allegations involving a municipal employee:
Greater Irbid Municipality confirms that the reports are untrue. Mayor Engineer Hussein Bani Hani said the suspected tuberculosis case involving a calf did not occur within the municipality’s boundaries and was outside its jurisdiction. He stressed that municipal health personnel had not seized anything of the kind.
Bani Hani added that the incident occurred in West Irbid, over which Greater Irbid Municipality has no authority.
He urged news websites and journalists to exercise accuracy and caution and consult municipal officials before publishing such information, especially as it harms the municipality’s reputation and indirectly implicates and damages its health employees.
