Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced on Tuesday that official work would be suspended in Iraq the day after tomorrow, Thursday, to commemorate the liberation of Ramadi, the Prophet’s birthday, Christmas, and the New Year.
The Prime Minister’s media office said in a statement obtained by Sumeria News that “in celebration of the victories of our heroic forces and the liberation of Ramadi, which coincided with the Prophet’s birthday, the birth of Jesus Christ, and the New Year, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announces the suspension of official work on Thursday, December 31, 2015.”
The Kurdistan Regional Government announces Thursday as an official holiday.
Kirkuk suspends official work next Thursday to mark the New Year.
It is worth noting that the Kirkuk Governorate administration announced yesterday, Monday (December 28, 2015), the suspension of work next Thursday to mark the New Year.
The Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq also announced the day before yesterday, Sunday (December 27, 2015), the suspension of official work next Thursday to mark the New Year’s Day instead of Friday, which coincides with the first day of the New Year 2016.
