Two Palestinians were killed yesterday after Israeli forces opened fire on them during a stabbing attack in Jerusalem, which resulted in the death of a settler and left two others seriously injured, one of whom was shot by police and later died from his injuries. Meanwhile, an Israeli court approved the demolition of the homes of the perpetrators of the stabbing attack inside an Israeli bus.
Israeli police said that two young men attacked settlers with knives before Israeli forces opened fire on them in the Bab al-Amud area of occupied Jerusalem. One of the attackers was killed immediately, while the other died while being transported to the hospital.
They explained that Israeli forces closed off the area surrounding the stabbing attack and deployed heavily in the streets and roads of Jerusalem, closing the entrances to the Old City and preventing citizens from entering or leaving.
Palestinian sources announced that the two martyrs were Issa Asaf and Annan Abu Habsa from the Qalandiya refugee camp.
Meanwhile, the Israeli Internal Security Agency (Shin Bet) announced the arrest of a group of 25 Palestinians in recent weeks on charges of planning to carry out suicide attacks and assaults against Israelis.
In a statement, it said that most of the suspects are students at Abu Dis University in the occupied West Bank, near Jerusalem, and were recruited by members of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the Gaza Strip to “form a military infrastructure to launch bomb attacks” in exchange for money.
On the other hand, the Israeli Supreme Court approved yesterday the demolition of the homes of the perpetrators of the stabbing and shooting attack inside an Israeli passenger bus in Jerusalem, the deceased Bahaa Aliyan and the detained Bilal Abu Ghanem, in addition to the home of the deceased Alaa Abu Jamal from Jabal al-Mukabir, who carried out a vehicle-ramming attack against Israelis. The implementation of the demolition decision has been postponed until the 30th of this month to allow the families to prepare for the demolition.
