The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) made progress today in the southern countryside of Kobani (Ain al-Arab) in northern Syria, a day after announcing a battle to liberate the area from ISIS militants, according to a spokesperson and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The SDF, a coalition of Kurdish and Arab factions led by the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), announced in a statement on Wednesday evening that it had “launched a battle to liberate the southern countryside of Kobani” in northern Aleppo, which “will continue until all areas in the southern countryside of Kobani occupied by the terrorist organization ISIS are liberated and security and stability are restored.”
