Qatar Remains Optimistic despite Lower Oil Prices

Qatari Energy Minister Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada said current oil-market conditions challenged growth plans but gave no reason for pessimism.

Opening a meeting of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries, OAPEC, he said the widening gap between supply and demand was causing a rapid fall in oil prices.

He said the oil and gas sector continued to face difficult conditions in Arab countries and worldwide, with supplies increasing as high-cost unconventional projects kept producing while the global economy slowed.
