The Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources supported fresh-milk producers by distributing pedigree Friesian bulls adapted to harsh environmental conditions and with strong productivity characteristics, to breed with their cows and improve private farms’ output.
Engineer Ahmed Atash, head of the authority’s Animal Resources Section, said in a press statement that the bulls were born and raised locally, had the capacity and immunity to resist local diseases, and had tested free of tuberculosis and brucellosis.
He stressed that the support aimed to produce high-quality local heifers and calves able to withstand harsh environmental conditions, bringing economic benefits to cattle farms, improving productivity and introducing genetic-engineering technology, while also removing females with below-average productivity.
