The spokesperson for the Security Media Center at the Ministry of Interior stated that, as part of the Ministry’s efforts to investigate the complaint filed by Islam Hassan Ahmed Zeidan Shalaan (27 years old), a tire worker residing in the Shibin al-Qanater district, who had previously been accused in three cases (brawls, narcotic tablets) and sentenced to six months in prison in a brawl case (suffering from the loss of two finger segments from two fingers of his left hand, abrasions on his back, and a bruise on his abdomen).
He accused an officer and the accompanying team from the Shibin al-Qanater police station of detaining him at the station’s investigation unit since Tuesday, December 15, assaulting him, causing the aforementioned injuries, and releasing him on the morning of Thursday, December 17.
He explained that during the investigation of the complaint, a citizen appeared at the Shibin al-Qanater police station and expressed his willingness to testify about the incident, stating that while he and his wife were purchasing medicine at a pharmacy in the district, he saw the aforementioned individual walking unsteadily. Investigations revealed that the individual had told his peers and friends that he was unemployed and desperately needed his father’s pension, fearing that it would be cut off upon his mother’s death, and that he was fully prepared to cut off his fingers and inflict a disability on himself to continue receiving the pension even after his mother’s death.
He pointed out that, by taking legal measures to track the individual’s phone, as well as incoming and outgoing calls, and determining their geographical location, information was obtained that he had made and received calls in several areas and at different times, while claiming to be detained at the Shibin al-Qanater police station’s investigation unit.
He noted that on December 21, during questioning by the prosecution, and after being confronted with the testimonies of the witnesses, the report on tracking his mobile phone, and the results of the investigations, he confessed to inflicting the injuries on himself and fabricating the incident, falsely accusing the officer to ensure that his father’s pension would not be interrupted and to take revenge on the officer for previously arresting his brother in a murder case. Legal measures were taken in relation to the incident.
